Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed its support for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
