The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and mayhem with the same excitement, all while telling captivating, socially charged narratives. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' structure by having a different setting and ensemble in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing belief and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Each game is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from year to year, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual bold, ambitious style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
