The children's author David Walliams lost his contract with longtime publisher.

The comedian

Acclaimed writer for children and TV personality David Walliams is no longer with his UK book publisher, the company has said.

A spokesman for the firm stated: "After careful consideration, and following the appointment of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing future works by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the decision was made after an investigation into reports of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at women.

The firm has not elaborated on the specific rationale behind the move, adding: "We refrain from speaking about confidential company decisions."

A Prolific Literary Career

Walliams ranks among Britain's most prolific writers for young readers, having sold in excess of 60 million copies globally in five dozen languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins in 2008.

Some of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into TV movies.

He has published more than 40 books in total, encompassing a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

Television and Literature

He first rose to fame on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE several years ago in recognition of his work for charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive last fall.
