Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
