Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to share openly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," posted Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order put a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
