Audiences are thrilled for the horror series the Derry series, which is earning acclaim and drawing from references from other Stephen King works. Now, HBO has revealed that the second installment will debut sooner than expected, timed perfectly for October 31st.

Premiere Shift Details

Kicking off on October 31 at 12 a.m. Pacific Time, the second episode of Welcome to Derry will make its debut on the streaming service, before its Sunday HBO premiere. Future chapters of the show's first season will premiere on the weekend on both HBO and its streaming arm, leading up to the final episode on the 14th of December.

Series Overview

Taking place within the world of King's It, the new series is inspired by the classic book while expanding on the setting brought to life by the It movie director in It and It Chapter Two. The original It focused on kids and teens battling supernatural evils, so it’s fitting that the prequel upholds that legacy. Yet, the premiere episode of HBO’s Welcome to Derry shows it set out to escalate the fear, providing more frightening moments than the cinematic versions and creating a harsh vibe for what's to come.

Story World and Concepts

Taking place in the 1960s, the series introduces a new generation of parents and youngsters living in a seemingly idyllic town hiding a evil heart. Derry operates on a brutal, periodic loop—one marked by aggression, prejudice, and paranormal events, as a monstrous presence returns each 27-year cycle. Even though Welcome to Derry might sound like it leans too heavily to the movies initially, what sets apart the digital program is its dual perspective—narrated via the viewpoints of young and old concurrently. Younger characters are especially susceptible to It's terror, but the adults aren’t spared confronting their own nightmares stemming from the town's ingrained prejudice and lurking supernatural forces.

The series premieres on October 31 at 12 a.m. Pacific Time.
