More than 100 hundred million individuals, including at least 15 million children, now employ e-cigarettes, fueling a new wave of nicotine habit, per recent international public health findings.

Minors are, on average, nine times more likely than adults to vape, according to current global statistics.

Electronic cigarettes are fueling a "new wave" of nicotine habit, commented a prominent health expert. "These devices are marketed as risk reduction but, in reality, are hooking kids on nicotine earlier and endanger compromising generations of improvement."

"Millions of people are quitting, or avoiding tobacco usage due to tobacco regulation measures by nations across the world," he said.

"As a reaction to this substantial advancement, the tobacco business is fighting back with novel nicotine products, actively targeting young people. Administrations must take action quicker and stronger in implementing tested tobacco-control policies," the representative further stated.

The vaping statistics are an estimate since some states - 109 in all, and many in Africa and Asian regions - lack statistics.

Based on the report, as of recent February this period, at least 86 million e-cigarette users were grown-ups, mainly in high-income states.

And at minimum 15 million youth between the ages of 13 and 15 currently use e-cigarettes, according to studies from 123 states.

While many nations have attempted to implement e-cigarette policies to tackle child vaping in the past few years, by the close of 2024, 62 nations yet had no policy in effect, and 74 states had no age restriction at which e-cigarettes can be bought, reports the health authority.

Simultaneously, tobacco consumption has been decreasing - from an estimated 1.38 billion consumers in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.

Frequency of tobacco use among females dropped the greatest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.

With men, the decrease was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.

But a fifth of adults worldwide still consumes tobacco.

Tobacco use is associated to several illnesses, such as cancer.

Professionals state vaping is far less damaging than cigarettes, and can aid you quit smoking. It is not recommended for non-smokers.

E-cigarettes avoid burning tobacco and do not produce black substance or CO, two of the most dangerous components in tobacco fumes. They have nicotine, which may be addictive.
